- Expression of Interest are invited for Contribution of Coastal Fisheries to Pacific Islands Countries' Economies and Options for Optimizing Sustainable Benefits. The consultancy aims at better understanding the contribution of coastal fisheries to economies, food security and livelihoods in PICs and identifying options to ensure their long-term sustainability and productivity. Three country case studies will assess the value and contribution of coastal fisheries to national economies and the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the sector, define priority issues and threats to sustainability, and advise on reforms and investments needed to sustain and optimize this contribution and to address issues, threats and impacts of the pandemic. The focus will be on aspects related to management and appropriate mechanisms and tools for facilitating its implementation, including livelihood and fishing effort diversification. Countries for the case studies will be confirmed prior to the request for proposals. A set of reports for case study countries and a synthesis report bringing together the common key issues and recommendations will be prepared.
