NSN 7R-1680-016017101-E7, REF NR 8360296-001, QTY 8 EA, DELIVERY FOB ORIGIN.This part requires engineering source approval by the design control activityin order to maintain the quality of the part. Existing unique designcapability, engineering skills, and manufacturing/repair knowledge by thequalified source(s) require acquisition/repair of the part from the approvedsource(s). The approved source(s) retain data rights, manufacturing /repairknowledge, or technical data that are not economically available to theGovernment, and the data or knowledge is essential to maintaining the qualityof the part. An alternate source must qualify in accordance with the designcontrol activitys procedures, as approved by the cognizant Governmentengineering activity.The qualification procedures must be approved by theGovernment engineering activity having jurisdiction over the part in theintended application.The subject item requires Government source approval prior to contract award,as the item is flight critical and/or the technical data available has notbeen determined adequate to support acquisition via full and open competition.Only the source(s) previously approved by the Government for this item havebeen solicited.The time required for approval of a new source is normallysuch that an award cannot be delayed pending approval of a new source.
