- The Finance and Administration Division, Vermont Local Roads (VLR), of the Vermont Agency of Transportation, hereinafter referred to as AOT, is seeking applications for the Fiscal Year 2024 Municipal Sign Package Award Program. Many municipalities struggle to find the space in their budget to purchase and maintain compliant safety equipment for temporary work zones. The inability of Vermont municipalities to operate in compliance with safety requirements under Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standard exposes municipalities to violations and associated fines if they are inspected by Vermont Occupational Safety and Health Administration (VOSHA). This creates a further monetary burden on town budgets and local taxpayer funds. The lack of adequate safety equipment also exposes municipal workers to an unnecessarily elevated hazard for municipal workers when working in the Right of Way. The Vermont Local Roads (VLR) is opening this grant program to aid towns in bringing them into compliance and helping to protect workers. This NOFO will result in one sign package to a selected town in each of the four (4) regions.
