- The Town of Berlin is soliciting proposals to retain a qualified Architectural/Engineering Firm (herein after referred to as firm, proposer, responder, architect) to conduct an assessment, prepare design documents, project estimates, obtain permitting approvals, provide bidding assistance, and construction administration services based on the recently completed feasibility study for the renovations to the Demore, Dinda, Bittner Jr. (DDB) Memorial Park located at 36 Wilcox Court, East Berlin, CT 06023. Proposed renovations for the park have been broken into two (2) phases, generally including the following. Phase 1: replacement of the pool house, conversion of the swimming and wading pools to a community splash pad, and expansion of the parking, Phase 2: conversion of the existing tennis courts to pickleball courts, and a new playscape. Both phases shall address utility and drainage improvements and improvements for access and accessibility. The Town intends to proceed with the design, cost estimating, and permitting of both phases concurrent with each other, however they may be put out to bid on different schedules based on the available funding at the time of bid.The project goal is to enable the Town to commence the renovation of the park during the late Summer/early Fall of 2026, upon completion of the permitting approvals and construction documents.This RFP is not a contract offer, and no contract will exist unless and until a written contract is signed by the Town and the successful proposer. Interested parties should submit a proposal in accordance with the requirements and directions contained in this RFP. The Town may choose not to select any firm.
