Description
The 31st Contracting Squadron at Aviano Air Base is seeking to award a brand name requirement for Apple iPad mini 7s to incorporate into electronic flight bags (EFB) to support the 31st Ops Group's F-16 pilot operations. The below justification for going brand name for this requirement is illustrated below.

Justification for Brand Name Specific Requirement:
The Apple iPad mini 7 will serve as the primary device to replace traditional paper-based flight publications and support mission-critical functions such as flight planning, in-flight navigation, access to real-time weather data, mission briefings, and aircraft system monitoring IAW ACCI11-270, 6 November 2024. With a high-resolution screen, minimum 128GB storage, and 10+ hours of battery life, the iPad will provide F-16 pilots with all the required performance specifications needed for operational use in the cockpit. The iPad-s lightweight design (under 0.75 lbs) and durability make it an ideal device for use in the high-stress, fast-paced environment of an F-16 cockpit, ensuring that pilots have access to the information they need without compromising safety or mission readiness. In addition to physical specifications, the iPad mini 7 will integrate seamlessly with current Air Force EFB platforms like Jeppesen FliteDeck and ForeFlight, ensuring compatibility with flight planning software and real-time data updates. The device supports secure software updates, remote management, and mobile device management (MDM), which are critical to maintaining operational readiness and ensuring data security in the field.
