Procurement of a Brand name only phosphor plate scanner
This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6 - Streamlined Procedures for Evaluation and Solicitation for Commercial Items, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotations are being requested, and a separate written solicitation document will not be issued. This solicitation is being issued under the authority of FAR Part 13 Simplified Acquisition Procedures.

This solicitation is a Request for Quotations (RFQ). The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 2025-05 effective August 7th, 2025.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), MMSD has a large investment in phosphor imaging plates and the related exposure cassettes as well as significant time invested in staff training and developing safe operating procedures for our current phosphor plate scanning system. The existing system, a GE Healthcare Typhoon FLA 7000 is over 20 years old and no longer supported by the manufacturer.
This technology and design were purchased by Cytiva and is marketed as Amersham Typhoon IP.
