INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND
The mission of the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (Fiscal Service), an agency of the Department of the
Treasury, is to borrow the money required to operate the Federal Government, account for the resulting debt and provide reimbursable support services to federal agencies. Over the past several years, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service has worked towards becoming and remaining a values-based organization.
SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES
The objective of this Sources Sought Notice (SSN) is to seek sources capable of performing the Sensitive But Unclassified (SBU/CUI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) Shredding and Purging Services for Fiscal Service.
All information contained in / on printed paper documents, 4 mm / 8 mm square tapes, tape reels, hard drives, CDs, DVDs, floppy disks, microfilm and microfiche under the jurisdiction of the Fiscal Service shall be handled and destroyed on-site only by a secure, economical, and effective means in accordance with Legal Requirements in SP 800-88, Guidelines for Media Sanitization. https://csrc.nist.gov/pubs/sp/800/88/r1/final.
The Fiscal Service Personally Identifiable Information (PII) is the most common form of sensitive information handled at the Fiscal Service and therefore requires the use of on-site shredding procedures. PII that is not properly disposed of can result in actual or potential identity theft and cause personal hardship to the subject individuals. It is imperative that the appropriate means of destruction be used for all Fiscal Service materials. Due to the sensitive nature of this work, all destruction shall be performed on-site only. The Contractor handling the PII destruction and disposal shall be bonded, insured, and be National Association for Information Destruction (NAID)-certified for the above forms of destruction required.
