This is a Notice of Intent published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101(a)(1) requiring the dissemination of information regarding proposed contract actions. This Notice of Intent is for a proposed award of a sole source, firm-fixed price contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b) - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Service Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. It is not a request for competitive quotes. The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 23 intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price contract to Cannon Medical Systems Inc. for proprietary Equipment Maintenance Services on government-owned equipment. VA requires the proprietary Equipment Maintenance Services from Cannon Medical Systems Inc in accordance with 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b) - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements because the software and/or services are unique or proprietary to Cannon Medical Systems Inc.Market research confirmed that Canon Medical Systems Inc, the manufacturer of the Canon brand of CT scanners and peripheral products, is the one and only firm that can perform maintenance using their proprietary software, software upgrades and parts on the Canon brand of CT scanners and peripheral products used to support the scanner system. Gray market items are not allowed for use in repairs. Only genuine Canon brand parts may be utilized for the purposes of making repairs.The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this requirement is 811210 and the product service code (PSC) is J065.
