***THIS IS A COMBINED SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE***
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a motion stage for vacuum mass exchange system. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to Attocube Systems (Eglfinger Weg 2, Haar, Bayern Germany) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b); only one source reasonably available. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516.
BACKGROUND
The NIST Mass and Force Group, Small Mass and Force Metrology Project requires motion stage for the vacuum mass exchange system of the electrostatic force balance to disseminate mass less than 1 gram and force less than 10 millinewtons.
NIST is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a solution that will achieve the objectives described above.
General Technical Specifications
System must be drop-in compatible with existing electrostatic force balance.
System must translate in 1 direction at least 20 mm at a rate of at least 2.5 mm/second.
System must have a resistive position encoder with 2 micrometer or lower repeatability and 250 nanometer or lower resolution; encoder must dissipate 1 milliwatt or less of power.
System must be made from titanium.
System must be tolerant of ultrahigh vacuum conditions.
System must support at least 2 kg of load at ambient conditions.
System must be actuated with a piezoelectric mechanism.
System must weigh less than 85 grams.
System must fit into an area less than 45 mm x 63 mm x 12 mm
