The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a rugged tunable narrow linewidth laser system. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to NKT Photonics Inc. (23 Drydock Avenue Suite 410E, Boston, MA 02210 US) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516.
The NIST Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML) Sensor Science Division (SSD) has an immediate critical need for a ruggedized narrow linewidth tunable telecom wavelength (1552.93 nm) laser system to be used as part of an Air Force funded project to construct a robust portable optical based pressure standard.
NIST has a need for a quantity of two 1552.93 nm Laser Systems that meets or exceeds the following draft minimum specifications:
Design Wavelength: 1552.93 nm Stable single frequency mode-hop free operation mode hop free wavelength tuning 400 pm or greater while linewidth is maintained at Must be coupled to polarization maintaining fiber (FC/APC) with an output power (through the fiber) of at least 30 mW Linewidth High speed Modulation input DC to 20 kHz with at least +/- 4 GHz modulation range Optical signal-to-noise at least 50 dB Demonstrated performance in harsh environments such as meeting GR-468-CORE standard or similar for temperature cycling, shock, and vibration tests Relative Intensity Noise less than -100 dBc / Hz at 10 MHz Phase noise must be less than -90 dB((Rad/âHz)/m) at 10 Hz must include power supply and all communication electronics Software control via USB Include 1-year warrantyNIST conducted market research from October 2020 to February 2025 by performing internet searches, searches of GSA, searches of FPDS and DSBS, and speaking with colleagues and various co... - Documents:
