Description:
The Us Geological Survey Is Offering A Funding Opportunity To A Cesu Partner For Research On Numerical Modeling Of Bear River Bay (Brb) Outflow To Gilbert Bay Of Great Salt Lake (Gsl). The Cesu Partner Will 1) Develop A Three-Dimensional (3D) Hydrodynamic Model That Solves The 3D Navier-Stokes Equation, And An Equation For Transport Of Salt, Which Is The Main Source Of Density Difference In The Simulated System. Turbulence In The System Will Be Modeled Using K-Epsilon Turbulence Closure. The Equations Will Be Solved Using The Finite Element Method For Spatial Discretization, With Prismatic Elements In 3D (Hervouet 2007). The Solver Is Part Of The Open-Source Free-Surface Hydrodynamics Solver Telemac-3D, Which Is Part Of The Telemac-Mascaret Suit Of Solvers (Http://Www.Opentelemac.Org/); And 2) Develop Physics-Informed Data-Driven Model(S) That Could Estimate The Flow At The Brb Outflow, For A Range Of Conditions Within The Range Of Usgs Measured Data.
