This is not a solicitation. The Department of Veterans Affairs intends to negotiate a requirement with Lieca Microsystems, 14008 Collections Center Drive, Chicago, IL 60693. The applicable NAICS code is 334516 and PSC is 6640. The authority for this action is FAR 13.106-1(b)(2): Only one Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Services Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Title of Project: Leica Biosystems slide printer2. Scope of Work: Leica Biosystems will deliver equipment as described in the quote to the Jamaica Plain warehouse. The PTSD BB is in need of new slide printer to replace the sixteen-year-old printer that is approaching end of life. The slide printer is used to automate human tissue slide labeling. The PTSD Brain Bank prints over 150 slides per case on a weekly basis. If this equipment is not replaced, the VA will incur costly repairs to fix the existing printer. If the current printer breaks down, the PTSD Brain Bank staff will need to manually label the tissue slides, which will take almost 10 times as long as using the automated slide printer.3. Background: Leica is the industry standard for laboratory slide labeling. The PTSD Brain Bank has utilized the Leica slide printer for 16 years without fail or error.4. Performance Period: The anticipated delivery date for the Leica equipment is 9/30/2025.5. Type of Contract: This is a one-time purchase via a firm fixed price commodity-only contract B.
