Cryo Associates is the original equipment manufacturer. This procurement action is needed from Cryo Associates for delivery of the liquid nitrogen storage freezers (2). These storage freezers are used to store red blood cells (in droplet form) for NIH patients, NIH donors, outside referral samples and special project samples containing highly unique characteristics for use in serologic testing. Cryo Associates manufacturing operations are regulated by the Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) as mandated by the Food and Drug Administration. This equipment is used to provide liquid nitrogen storage freezer/tank equipment to the Department of Transfusion Medicine, Transfusion Services Laboratory. Cryo Associates will be able to provide liquid nitrogen storage freezers/tanks to meet the specific needs of the NIH Clinical Center patients recommended and validated for Department of Transfusion Medicine.
