***THIS IS A COMBINED SOURCES SOUGHT NOTICE AND NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE***
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing repair, maintenance, and training on GF CUT1000 EDM machine and Progress VP. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to GF Machining Solutions LLC (560 Bond ST, Lincolnshire, Illinois, 60069) under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 811310.
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Fabrication Technology Office (FTO) provides engineering, fabrication, and technical services to support the creation of unique measurement instruments and scientific apparatus for NIST's Measurement and Standards Laboratories. FTO delivers mission-critical engineering and manufacturing expertise to produce specialized parts and subassemblies for one-of-a-kind instruments designed by NIST scientists and engineers.
FTO-s core services include metal fabrication, mechanical engineering, and electromechanical assembly to create high-precision components. Its manufacturing technology base includes milling machines, lathes, grinders, electrical discharge machines (EDMs), boring mills, and related equipment. The CUT1000 EDM machine is currently inoperable, disrupting operations. Training is also needed for NIST technicians on the Progress VP and CUT1000.
NIST conducted market research and the only OEM GF Machining Solutions to provide the services. The results of that market research revealed that only GF Machine Solutions, Inc. (UEI: J1XMEU3CYVG5) appears to be capable of meeting NIST-s requirements.
No other source can provide the same repair maintenance and training of the Progress VP and CUT1000 EDM other than GF Machining Solutions.
