Lena (mile marker 16.4).The proposed project would:Resurface Glacier Highway from the intersection of Glacier Highway and Auke Bay Ferry Terminal East Berth Road to the intersection of Glacier Highway and South Lena Loop Road. Associated preventative maintenance activities may include minor structural section improvements, drainage repairs, guardrail replacement, striping, and sign replacement.Construction is anticipated to begin spring/summer of 2026 or sooner.FloodplainsThe proposed project will necessitate encroachments to the mapped floodplain. An analysis of FEMA Mapping (FIRM ID 02110C-1218E) indicates the project is adjacent to the Zone AE, 1% annual chance (100-year) flood. The project may encroach into the base 100 year floodplain.
