SPECIFICATIONSGalvestonIndependent School District (GISD) is comprised of 13 school sites, Facilitieswarehouse, Police department and Administration building that houses thenetwork operation center. Galveston ISD serves 6800 students with a total staffof 1250. GISD is seeking qualified IT Service Providers (Vendors) to provide avision in implementing and upgrading the switching and routing network(including firewall), wireless infrastructure, uninterrupted powers suppliesand technical services to optimize the functions and delivery of service to ourstudents and staff while providing increasedsecurityto protectthedataanditsrelatedfunctionusinglatesttechnologymethodsandbestpractices with an emphasis oncybersecurity.NEWARCHITECTUREREQUIREMENTThe GISD Management Information Services (MIS) department has deemedthat there are gaps in the networksecuritysystem that need to be resolved.Withthe unending potential threats that loom in the K12 educational space, GISDseeks to ensurethat the internalnetwork is secured with cybersecurity best practices with NIST 800-171 typeframework technical safeguarding methodology to include penetration testing,setting up honey pots, VLAN, segmenting the network and QoS as some examples.The network has alsogrown through the years with various CloudServices and on-premises services creating a mixed environment.Furthermore, standardizing on wireless accesspoints (WAPS) while thinking long term for density and coverage is highlydesirable.
