The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Weather Service (NWS), and Radar Operations Center (ROC), located in Norman, OK is conducting market research seeking information regarding capabilities for an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contact (IDIQ) to replace the Transition Power Source (TPS) for the NEXRAD due to obsolescence.
NOAA operates 158 Next Generation Weather Radars (NEXRAD) across the country. These radars depend on electrical power to operate. The electrical power generally comes from the commercial power grid. The power grid is susceptible to power fluctuations due to a variety of factors including weather and other customers.
