The scope of work is for the design and fabrication of Scintillating Fibers for the Barrel Imaging Calorimeter for the EIC. BSA shall award one subcontract for a base amount of 1,125,000 meters and include unilateral option 1 - 1,264,000 meters and unilateral option 2 - 2,511,000 meters for a total of 4,900,000 meters of Scintillating Fibers.
Technical/Performance CharacteristicsA. Light yield: the average response to a Sr-90 source shall be greater than 3.5 photoelectrons measured using a bialkali photomultiplier tube (e.g. Hamamatsu R329-02 or similar) 200 cm from the source, and the opposite end blackened (or assessed via other methods mutually acceptable to the BSA and Contractor).B. Diameter mean value and variation shall be 1.00 +/- 0.01 mm, RMS ≤0.02 mm.C. Attenuation length for blue light 4m.D. Batch to batch or lot to lot variation of light yield E. Batch to batch or lot to lot variation of attenuation length F. Emission spectrum in blue-green lightG. Scintillation decay time H. Total length 4900 kmI. Delivery method in canes.
