Request for Information (RFI)
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS), which manages and operates portions of the Savannah River Site (SRS) under a Department of Energy (DOE) prime contract, solicits expressions of interest from potential suppliers with a background in fabrication of Electrolytic Dissolver Components.
This RFI is issued to assist with finding potential suppliers interested in this solicitation.
The SRS is located approximately 15 miles south of Aiken, South Carolina and is 310 contiguous square miles.
Scope Summary: Design, fabrication, inspection, testing, documentation, and delivery of an Anode/Cathode Assembly to be mated to a Dissolver vessel by others.
The assembly is an electromechanical device without moving parts with overall dimensions on the order of five to ten feet (See sketch).

One set of sub-assemblies Fabrication and assembly drawingsFabrication materials include
Stainless steel flanges that mate with vessel surfaces and piping connections; Ceramic and niobium structural parts; Gold gaskets; Aluminum conductive parts; Platinum explosion-bonded parts.Fabrication techniques include
Niobium and stainless steel welding (GTAW) Gold and chromium electroplating on aluminum and niobium.Finishing techniques include cold rolling, annealing, and cleaning.
Inspection techniques include
X-ray or ultrasonic examination radiographic examination Weld hardness Electrical conductivity and resistivityA supplier's response to the RFI does not guarantee they will be selected to participate in the Request for Proposal (RFP).
