Description:
IFC is considering an equity investment in preference shares of a company operating in the energy sector in select Sub‑Saharan African markets. The contemplated transaction would entail IFC acquiring an equity stake in the company. The proceeds are expected to support (i) procurement of generation equipment to enable growth in existing markets, (ii) repayment of certain short‑term supplier obligations, and (iii) refinancing of a portion of existing shareholder bridge financing. The company is advised by a financial advisor.IFC intends to engage a consulting firm to conduct financial due diligence and prepare a report that will:Assess the quality of the company-s financial information and identify potential risk areas;Provide a clear assessment of the company-s historical financial performance; andInform the structuring of the contemplated investment.
