• Expression of Interest are invited for IFC Western Balkans Manufacturing Value Chains Program - Regional Supplier Development Initiative. Assignment Description Context: The IFC is implementing an Advisory Program in the Western Balkans region that will help improve the integration of local manufacturing firms into regional and European value chains. In particular support the integration of local firms in the supply chain of FDI firms active in the automotive and e-mobility cluster and based in Serbia and North Macedonia. This will be achieved by a) increasing connectedness of local firms to FDI firms in the region and other buyers in the Eurozone through establishment of an online match-making platform (Component 1); b) strengthening local manufacturing capabilities through private and public sector initiatives (Component 2); and c) improving the enabling environment, including regulatory issues and access to finance (Component 3). The focus is on improving the operational performance and competitiveness of local manufacturing companies in light of the international standards and procurement requirements of FDI firms in the region. A key part of the regional supplier development project will be the carrying out of comprehensive business reviews of the current operational performance of participating local suppliers in light of market and FDI firm requirements. These baseline assessments against international standards of performance and competitiveness (incl. the perspective to support decarbonization of supply chains) will form the basis for identifying priorities for improvement of these local companies and agree on individually tailored action plans and hands-on training and coaching. The pilot initiative intends to deliver a proof of concept and foster knowledge exchanges with national level government counterparts, local development agencies and consultants on running similar initiatives going forward. Tasks: In this respect the IFC is seeking the services of a firm with extensive experience of implementing market driven and systematic supplier development programs, including tailored business assessments and management training and coaching services. Key qualifications and expertise sought include Manufacturing, Production, Operations, Supply Chain, New Product Introduction, Design, Development, Quality, Supplier Development or practical consultancy experience in similar disciplines. A knowledge of manufacturing business, from strategy through to shop floor execution. Knowledge of lean manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance, Total Quality and Sustainability thinking and/or similar manufacturing philosophies. Consultants having strong expertise and track record planning and implementing improvements in manufacturing companies are encouraged to submit an EOI for the above-mentioned task, including a first indication of the methodology they plan to use for conducting company assessments.
