INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE (REVISED)
The United States Air Force, AFLCMC/PZIBA, Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio 45433-5344 publishes this notice of intent to award a sole source contract for informational purposes only. This proposed action is for the acquisition of the ZEISS Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) Preventative Maintenance (PM) Plan (Annual) for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) located at Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio 45433.
The Government intends to solicit and negotiate with only one source under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(2) The Contracting Officer has determined that only one source is reasonably available: Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC.
This proposed procurement will be a Sole Source under North American Industry Classification System code (NAICS) 811310 - Commercial and Industrial Machinery and Equipment (except Automotive and Electronic) Repair and Maintenance, with a size standard of $12.5M.
The proposed source is Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, 1 N Broadway STE 1501 White Plains, New York 10601-2335, United States.
This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. However, all responsible sources may submit a capability statement, proposal, quotation, or exception to the intent to purchase on a sole source basis, which shall be considered by the Government if received within five (5) days of this notice. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
In order to comply with FAR 5.207(c)(15), the reason for lack of competition is as follows: The proposed vendor, Carl Zeiss Microscopy, LLC, is the only known source able to satisfy the Government's requirements as it is the only entity in the United States authorized by Carl Zeiss Microscopy GmbH (the manufacturer) to provide comprehensive support and service for Zeiss Crossbeam 350 microscopes.
