Description
The Acquisition Management Division (AMD) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to procure an Ion Reference Gauge under a Firm Fixed Price Purchase Order using Simplified Acquisition Procedures for Commercial Items (FAR Parts 12 and 13).
The mission of Thermodynamic Metrology group is to maintain and disseminate pressure from the ultra-high vacuum to above atmospheric pressure. The group is currently upgrading the ionization gauge calibration service (IGCS).
Accurately measuring high-vacuum pressure (Pa to Pa) and ultra-high vacuum pressure (Pa to Pa) is a significant challenge. The work-horse gauge in these pressure ranges is the ionization gauge. Most ionization gauge designs exhibit significant sensitivity drift over time and therefore require frequent recalibration. To assess the quality of the IGCS, we maintain a suite of in-house ionization gauges that are repetitively calibrated. The repetitive calibration runs allow us to confirm that the IGCS is, generally, operating properly. However, our current gauge suite lacks the accuracy and reproducibility to provide long-term consistency checks on the IGCS. Newly developed reference ionization gauges exhibit accuracy and reproducibility sufficient for such long-term consistency checks. Acquiring these reference gauges will significantly improve the reliability and quality of the IGCS.
To achieve our goals for the IGCS, the reference ionization gauge must have accuracy of 1 % or better. The reference gauge must also have a repeatability of 1 % or better across multiple pump down cycles. Sufficient long-term stability of the ionization gauge reading requires that the gauge be designed according to ISO/CD TS 6737.
The system shall meet or exceed the minimum requirements identified below. All items must be new. Used or remanufactured equipment will not be considered for award. Experimental, prototype items will not be considered. The use of “gray market...
