PRE-SOLICITATION ANNOUNCEMENTJOHN MUIR NATIONAL HISTORIC SITEJOMU IRRIGATION SYSTEMRFP No. 140P8525Q0015The National Park Service (NPS), John Muir National Historic Site, located in California, has a requirement to replace the failing existing irrigation system with a new irrigation system.The existing irrigation system supports the site¿s historic landscape of mature ornamentaltrees and restored orchards and gardens. It serves a one-acre area of trees and landscapingaround the historic house, which sits on a hill at the south side of the site. It also irrigates aone-acre apple orchard downhill to the east, and a one-acre peach orchard to the north. Thenew system will extend irrigation to a one-acre vineyard/orchard planted west of the houseand a two-acre orchard west of the creek.The existing irrigation water source is supplied by domestic city water via a meter at the parkentrance (4202 Alhambra Ave). The POC will be the domestic 5/8¿ water meter located in anunpaved planter bed adjacent to the park entrance at 4202 Alhambra Ave. An additionalwater meter located on the NW side of the site (near the Martinez Adobe) will supply waterto irrigation lines on the West side of the site. All irrigation parts downstream of themeter/POC will be replaced unless indicated otherwise on the Plans.Two existing historic hand-dug, rock-lined wells are also connected to the existing irrigationsystem and shall be reconnected to the new irrigation system. The existing well infrastructureincluding pumps, captive air tanks and backflow preventers shall be retained.The Contractor shall provide all mobilization, labor, supervision, materials, equipment, transportation, site rehabilitation, clean-up, and demobilization.
