The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Forest Service announces an opportunity on the Northern Research Station, , Kane Experimental Forest, Kane, PA for the following:
The NRS Kane Roof Replacements project shall consist of the removal and legal disposal of the approximately 7,100 square feet of existing asphalt shingles, underlayment, flashings, drip edge, and fasteners on six buildings at the Kane Experimental Forest Headquarters. After removal, the work shall also include the installation of full replacement of synthetic underlayment, architectural shingle roof, drip edge, valley/ridge shingles, as well as the installation of step flashings, pipe/vent/chimney penetration flashings, and other items associated with a watertight roofing installation. Remove and reinstall lightening protections components as necessary.
There is an additional line item (Item 4) for replacement of damaged sheathing and roof supports as discovered after roof removal. Additionally, demo the metal chimney on the bunkhouse roof and patch the sheathing in preparation for reroofing. Replace sheathing and supports only with COR approval. The following sheathing and support quantities are estimated to be needed. All sheathing is expected to be ½”, ¾”, or 5/8” plywood or 7/16” OSB. Damage supports are located around the bunkhouse chimney and quantities are expected to be 10ft length or less of 2x6 structural lumber.
This work shall consist of the Contractor providing any and all mobilization, equipment, labor, materials, tools, supervision, safety and other incidentals necessary to perform all work for the specified construction activities in accordance with the Schedule of Items, Forest Service Supplemental Specification (FSSS), Standard Specifications for Construction of Roads and Bridges on Federal Highway Projects per FP-14 Specifications, all supporting project specific drawings, contract, laws, rules, and regulations.
