About theAgribusiness Leadership Program IFC-sAgribusiness Leadership Program (ALP) is a capacity-building program that helpsIFC agribusiness clients strengthen their supply chains and secure access tosustainably produced commodities. It does this by building the capacity ofsmall agribusinesses working in client supply chains. These agribusinessesoften struggle with low productivity, fragmentation, weak market linkages, andlimited economies of scale. ALP uses assessment, training, and coaching tostrengthen their operations. Since itslaunch in 2016, ALP has reached more than one million smallholder farmers,3,500 last mile retailers, and 2,000 producer organizations. It has evolvedfrom a purely face-to-face capacity-building program into a blended learningprogram. That is, it combines face-to-face training and coaching withopportunities for digital learning. Depending on the project, digital learningcould include e-learning, chatbot interactions, or virtual training, to name afew. About thisProject Through itsSmallholder Supply Chains project, IFC aims to enhance the capacity of localbusiness development service (BDS) providers to deliver ALP training andcoaching to smallholder farmers, producer organizations, and otheragri-enterprises in developing countries. The project focuses on selectedpriority countries and regions, specifically India and Bangladesh in SouthAsia, and Nigeria, Côte d-Ivoire, Togo, and Senegal in West Africa. To execute thisassignment, IFC seeks to contract up to three qualified and experienced firmswith a proven track record in engagements that have accelerated theprofessionalization of agri-enterprises, including lead farmers, farmerorganizations, and agri-retailers. The selected firms will provide ALP-basedcapacity building support for chosen BDS providers within the targetedcountries.
