SCOPE OF WORK - Lock & Dam 2 Crossover Vault Sediment Pumping
1. Project Description
The Saint Paul District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has issued this solicitation for pumping services at Lock and Dam 2 in Hastings, MN. The USACE operates Lock & Dam 2 as part of the navigational waterway mission of the Upper Mississippi River Valley. This contract is to supply pumping services of the two (2) separate Lock & Dam 2 Crossover Vaults. These services will allow the successful future repairs of mission critical electrical circuits in support of Lock & Dam 2 operations.
The Contractor shall be responsible for the complete removal and disposal of all sediment material located in the two (2) vaults, providing all pumping/vacuum equipment necessary to complete the sediment removal of the two vaults, the transportation of pumping equipment to and from the site, the transportation of the pumped material to a disposal site, all labor associated with the setup and operation of the sediment removal equipment, and all costs associated with the sediment removal and disposal operations. The Contractor shall have a representative(s) present onsite to provide oversight of all sediment removal equipment mobilization, equipment setup, removal operations, transportation of sediment off site, and disposal of sediment material.
The Government will provide a water supply source to the sediment location inside the vaults as necessary to create a pumpable slurry in the sediment. The two (2) vaults where the sediment is to be removed are classified as confined spaces and contain vertical shafts to access the floor of the vaults. The government will provide all labor inside the vaults necessary to complete the sediment pumping operations. The government will manage all site safety in the work area.
