- Description : Rural areas throughout the State continue to be under resourced and are home to communities rich in cultural diversity with access to few services to address social-economic and healthcare needs. Rural communities on Oahu can often be neglected since they are located adjacent to the State-s major metropolitan center and suburban communities. However, Oahu-s rural areas sustain populations of substantial size and despite their proximity to urban Honolulu real barriers to services exist. This is particularly true for Oahu-s windward, Ko-olauloa region which has been rarely been studied.The Department of Health ("DOH"), Family Health Services Division ("FHSD") seeks to enter into a contract with a qualified organization to conduct a comprehensive needs assessment of the KoΚ»olauloa region, spanning Kualoa to Kahuku, using culturally responsive and inclusive methodologies. In addition to conducting the needs assessment, the selected bidder will coordinate and host community health outreach events and health resource fairs to provide direct support, education, and resources to residents including priority populations: including Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities, low-income families, and houseless individuals.
