Tender are invited for The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) is proposing to improve safety and reduce congestion for people and motorized vehicles traveling along the Sterling Highway between Sterling and Soldotna. (CFHWY00130).Project activities for replacing the culvert at Soldotna Creek will encroach into the base (100-year) floodplain of Soldotna Creek for the Kenai Peninsula Brough, Alaska (FEMA Firm panel 020012 0910F). The proposed floodplain work includes replacing the existing culvert with a single-span bridge, armoring the fill embankment with riprap to protect the new bridge, realigning the stream channel, and stabilizing the stream channel to mitigate erosion. Base flood elevation downstream from the culvert may have a negligible rise due to the increased hydraulic capacity, thereby reducing the hydraulic constriction imposed by the existing culvert.
