Special Notice: FD-2025-526***The U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration(NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS), Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC)intends to award, on a sole source basis to Life Technologies Corporation, under the authority of FAR13.106-1(b)(1), for annual service and maintenance for the 3500 Genetic Analyzer and the QuantStudio 6Flex.***The sole source determination is based on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-s(NOAA), National Marine Fisheries Services requirement for service and maintenance contract for the3500 Genetic Analyzer (S/N: 27128-170) and the QuantStudio 6 Flex (S/N 278862711) real time PCR forthe Northwest Fisheries Science Center (NWFSC) in Seattle, WA. The performance of NWFSC-sGenetics & Evolution Program Molecular Genetics Laboratory depends upon several pieces ofspecialized equipment as part of our routine laboratory operations. Our research is time-critical to deliver
results for forensic casework to NOAA-s Office of Law Enforcement in a timely manner and to meet pre-determined data delivery timelines for mission essential projects. The scientific research performed by
NWFSC-s Genetics and Evolution Program are in direct response to NOAA mission mandates under theMarine Mammal Protection Act (16 U.S.C 1361 et seq.), which requires the development of stockassessment reports and requires timely determination of species with depleted status and the developmentand expeditious implementation of conservation plans for depleted stocks/species, the EndangeredSpecies Act (16 U.S.C. 1533), requiring the development and implementation of recovery plans forspecies listed as threatened or endangered, and the Magnuson-Stevens Fishery Conservation andManagement Act (MSA) for fisheries systems research (16 U.S.C. 1882), requiring that NOAA Fisheriesadvance fisheries science generally and for the specific use of scientific data, information an...
