Tender are invited for The Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) has assumed the responsibilities of the Federal Highway Administration under 23 U.S.C. 327 and is soliciting comments and information to upgrade current emergency power capabilities at the Anton Anderson Memorial (Whittier) Tunnel by installing two new backup generators. The generators would be installed near the entrances to both sides of the Whittier Tunnel, one on the Bear Valley side at MP 1.1296 and one on the Whittier side at MP 4.444. The purpose of this project is to ensure consistency of electrical power to the tunnel under both normal and emergency conditions during prolonged power outages.The proposed work would include the following as needed: Removal and replacement of existing concrete pads, and installation of new concrete pads.
