Description
This is not a request for quotations or announcement of a forthcoming solicitation, but merely a notification of Social Security Administration-s (SSA) intent to negotiate on a sole source basis with Carrier Commercial Service for the acquisition of new Product Integration Control Panel (PIC) on SSA Carrier Chiller #7 and a new starter to work with the PIC 6 Panel install. Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) Subpart 13.106-1(b)(1), the Contracting Officer has determined that there is only one source reasonably available. Carrier is the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) of the 19XL Chiller and the PIC 6 Panel. The PIC 6 Panel is a proprietary component designed and manufactured exclusively by Carrier for use with their chillers. SSA requires a new starter in connection with the PIC 6 Panel install to function properly. No other vendor is authorized to provide or install this upgrade, and third-party components are not compatible with the Carrier 19XL Chiller without voiding warranties or risking system integrity.
