NOTICE OF INTENT TO SOLE SOURCE
NOAA's Marine Operations Center, Acquisitions Branch, intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Appleton Marine Inc, of Appleton, Wisconsin, for the direct replacement purchase of three (3) each planetary speed reducers for the repair of their three Appleton Marine BMD-0646 capstans aboard NOAA Ship Oscar Dyson.
The sole source determination is based on the requirement for original equipment manufacturer parts for direct replacement. This particular brand name is essential to the requirement and market research indicates similar products do not meet or cannot be modified to meet agency needs.
