The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL) intends to issue a Firm Fixed Price (FFP) single source award to Acutronic USA, Inc. (Acutronic), 700 Waterfront Drive, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for the Annual Maintenance for the ERDC Centrifuge.
The Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geotechnical and Structures Lab (GSL) large-beam centrifuge has supported research in the fields of geotechnical, structural, coastal, hydraulic, and environmental engineering, in addition to force and infrastructure protection and requires a multi-year maintenance contract to support ongoing operational research in the Centrifuge Research Complex (CRC). To maintain the current operational capability of the centrifuge, an annual maintenance contract is required. Acutronic possesses unique expertise in the assessment, maintenance, and repair of large beam centrifuges, specifically the large-beam models such as the 684 Model of which there are only two known models in the world. Their technicians have over 30 years- experience designing and maintaining this large beam centrifuge and per our request improved their product by integrating US power requirements, produced by Rockwell USA, to retrofit their motor control systems. This long-term and growing expertise is critical for accurately diagnosing potential issues and performing repairs safely and effectively to this unique machine. Acutronic maintains proprietary technology and design features for all their centrifuges therefore they control access to technical documentation and support that is not readily available to other vendors.
