Title: Notice of Intent to Sole Source a High radiance UV-NIR light source with Monochromator
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a high radiance UV-NIR light source with monochromator. If no alternate sources are identified, the Government intends to issue a Sole Source Award to Hamamatsu Corp. located at 360 Foothill Road, Bridgewater, NJ 08807 under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b); only one source reasonably available. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516.
BACKGROUND
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Physical Measurement Laboratory (PML) Surface and Interface Metrology Group requires a High radiance UV-NIR light source with Monochromator to perform refractometry and dark-field microscopy. It is required that the light source comes integrated with a monochromator to enable narrowband wavelength selection when used with the refractometer. These measurements will enable traceability of the project-s microscopy measurements, and the measured refractive index dispersion relations will be used to quantify the composition of particles measured with light scattering microscopes. The light source is also required for high-radiance illumination of a dark-field microscope, which will be used to characterize individual nanoparticles. The dark-field microscope requires illumination with the full broadband output of the light source. The light source will be shared between a dark-field microscopy and refractometry apparatus.
