Pursuant to FAR 8.405-6(a), the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) intends to award a sole source delivery order to Kimball International, Inc., 1600 Royal Street, Jasper, Indiana 47546-2256 for the acquisition of Furniture Renovations to include furniture replacement and installation.
Kimball office furniture is the standardized product line used within the USSS buildings in the National Capital Region (NCR). The use of Kimball furniture maintains the consistency of the approved product line, standardization of office furniture, and quality and finish selection to integrate with existing furniture. It is imperative that a consistent product line and manufacturer be utilized to maintain an efficient and cost-effective furniture management plan throughout the NCR. This ability is integral to the inventory and maintenance management program because it allows the USSS to seamlessly move furniture between each of the various offices when the needs of an individual office within the USSS change. In staying with one manufacturer, the USSS preserves the usefulness of the product we have, and it provides maximum flexibility for future modifications and reconfigurations using consistent, compatible, and interchangeable components.
