The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) intends to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with: TRAJAN SCIENTIFIC AMERICAS INC. 1421 W WELLS BRANCH PKWY # 108, PFLUGERVILLE, TX 78660
The sole source justification is based on the following:
The Biomolecular Measurement Division of the National Institute of Standards & Technology (NIST) provides improvement of measurements through method and instrumentation development, validates HDX-MS measurement technology by conducting interlaboratory comparisons, and improves measurement accuracy through HDX-MS studies of selected proteins. To support this mission, it utilizes a system that includes a Trajan HDX -DHR robotic rail system S/N 505628 and associated Chronos software for operation. NIST is now seeking on-site repair/maintenance services for the Trajan HDX - DHR robotic rail system S/N 505628.
Trajan Scientific Americas is the original manufacturer of the hardware and software for which maintenance service is sought. The HDX Workflow Solutions from Trajan incorporates and utilizes specialty developed, and proprietary IP embodied in hardware, software and consumable supply. Trajan protects key hardware through patents, and software embedded IP is contained in encrypted modules for these dedicated workflows. Trajan is also the owner and sole global resource for purchase and support of Chronos scheduling software and HDExaminer data analysis software. There are no 3rd party vendors that Trajan works with to provide the services. This information is included in a sole source letter that Trajan provided. No other vendor can provide these services as they are specialized hardware, software, and software updates from this vendor.
