Special NoticeSpecial NoticePage 3 of 3Special Notice*= Required FieldSpecial NoticePage 1 of 3This is a Notice of Intent published in accordance with Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 5.101(a)(1) requiring the dissemination of information regarding proposed contract actions. This Notice of Intent is for a proposed award of a sole source, firm-fixed price contract under the authority of 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b) - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Service Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. It is not a request for competitive quotes.The Department of Veterans Affairs, Network Contracting Office 21, intends to award a sole source, firm-fixed price contract to Nikon Instruments Inc. for the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) per 41 U.S.C. 3304(a)(1), as implemented by FAR 13.106-1(b) - Only One Responsible Source and No Other Supplies or Service Will Satisfy Agency Requirements. Nikon Instruments Inc. is the only authorized service provider for Nikon Confocal and Super Resolution systems using highly skilled and factory trained service personnel. All Confocal and Super Resolution service requests in the United States are handled directly through the Nikon Instruments Service department and not through any intermediate establishment or 3rd party billing entity. Any service scheduled or performed on Nikon Confocal or Super Resolution systems by unauthorized entities will void any warranties they may have. As the direct manufacturer and sole source service provider, Nikon Instruments Inc. is able to provide the most complete and efficient technical support and service without any obstacles or delays that typically are experienced when using an intermediate source. This contract will be a new firm fixed price contract for a base year and one (1) option year.
