  Description
  The National Institutes of Health (NIH), Clinical Center, Department of Laboratory Medicine intends to negotiate and award a sole source firm-fixed-price purchase order to Evident Scientific MIS, Inc., 140 Kendrick Street, Needham, MA 02494, for the procurement and installation of Olympus BX53F2 and BX43 clinical microscopy systems, integrated camera systems, Cellsens software licenses, and associated accessories required to support Hematology diagnostic operations within the NIH Clinical Center.

  Background
  The Department of Laboratory Medicine serves as the clinical laboratory for the NIH Clinical Center and provides laboratory support for patient care, clinical research protocols, and training in clinical pathology. The upgraded Olympus microscopy systems are required to improve diagnostic accuracy, workflow efficiency, staff safety, and laboratory compliance within the Hematology Service. The BX53F2 microscopes provide enhanced brightfield visualization with LED illumination to support evaluation of clinically significant cellular morphology and chromatin detail during review of peripheral blood smears and bone marrow specimens.
