- Pierce County Planning and Public Works, Office of the County Engineer, requests qualifications from consulting engineering firms to provide Civil/Structural Bridge Design and Related Engineering Services.The selected consultant (s) will provide civil/structural bridge engineering design services and other tasks as necessary for preparation of construction bid packages including but not limited to civil/structural design, load ratings, construction plans, Special Provisions, estimates and other associated civil design work. The successful consultant will have working knowledge of the AASHTO Bridge Design Specifications and Manual for Bridge Evaluation (MBE), Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) Standard Specifications for Road, Bridge, and Municipal Construction, WSDOT Bridge Design Manual (BDM), WSDOT Geotechnical Design Manual (GDM), WSDOT Hydraulics Manual, and other applicable design standards and be able to perform complex technical work in the fields of civil and structural bridge engineering.Funding for the work may be from County, State, or Federal sources or a combination of such sources. All work in which Federal funds are involved must comply with current Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and/or WSDOT requirements, including those in the WSDOT Local Agency Guidelines (LAG Manual).
