- As part of the organization of a planned regional workshop (16-18 February 2026) the UIS will launch a sustained implementation pathway led by SADC, combining diagnostics, technical assistance, peer review and integrated national work plans to improve coverage of SDG 4 and establish a scalable model for inclusive and data-driven transformation across Africa. The main objective of the EMIS-HEMIS SADC/AC regional workshop is to strengthen data systems, to improve the reporting of SDG 4 and promote the harmonization of EMIS and HEMIS frameworks across Member States. The three-day technical workshop, to be held in Johannesburg, South Africa, in February 2026, is organized by the Institute of UNESCO Statistics (UIS), the SADC Secretariat, and its partners, including OBREAL and HAQAA3, with a subcontractor engaged as a consultancy firm to manage the logistics and coordination of all field arrangements and consulting contracts. The secondary objective is that the UIS is looking for a service provider to support this implementation, as SADC does not have the internal capacity to manage the logistics alone and organize such a workshop.
