Description
Pursuant to 13.106-1(b), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) intends to solicit from a single source with PIARC Special Project on Motorcyclist Protection Systems & Safety Aspects of Management of Traffic for Motorcycles with Federal Highway Administration (FHWA).

The objective of this project is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of (1) infrastructure motorcycle protection systems and (2) safety aspects of traffic management, including their design, implementation, and effectiveness. By identifying and evaluating these systems and strategies, the project seeks to provide actionable recommendations for improving motorcycle safety standards and practices.

Topics of Interest for Conference discussions are as follows:
TASK A: Literature Review TASK B: Case Studies TASK C: International Survey Results: TASK D: Final Report- Best Practices and Recommendations Task E: Dissemination Material Report: The project will deliver a comprehensive final report that will consolidate the findings from the literature review, case studies, and international survey. The primary focus is on identifying best practices and effective strategies for implementing motorcycle protection systems and traffic management to enhance rider safety. The final report will include best practices, policy recommendations, and actionable strategies to guide future FHWA initiatives. In addition, the report will include recommendations and suggestions for road authorities and for PIARC to highlight good practice, successful policies challenges and opportunities in motorcycle protection and traffic management.
