The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is seeking information from sources that may be capable of providing a Mid-infrared optical spectrum analyzer. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 334516.
BACKGROUND
The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Physical Measurements Laboratory (PML), Fundamental Electrical Measurement (FEM) group realizes the unit mass for the United States using a Kibble balance as part of the new Revised SI. The relative gravimeter is essential for gravity traceability. To achieve the required overall accuracy, a small, portable, relative gravimeter with very small drift (non-clamping type) is needed for all relative gravity measurements. Quartz based (non-clamping type) relative gravimeters have proven to have negligible offsets between measurements.
General Requirements:
The Contractor shall provide the following portable, relative, precision gravimeter that meets the following minimum specifications:
Quartz-based (non-clamping) relative gravimeter sensor. 0.1 microGal reading resolution. Residual drift of less than 30 microGals/day. Repeatability of no more than 5 microGals. Automatic correction for solid earth tides, instrument tilt, temperature, and drift. Dimensions less than 10 inches on all sides. Sensor with electrostatic nulling. More than 2 GB of internal memory. Data output rate of at least 5 Hz (for use in continuous measurements). Remote operation via Bluetooth- or Wifi-connected device. Dual batteries (so power is not interrupted when batteries are replaced). Total weight (unit plus batteries) less than 15 lbs.
