This Request For Information is for information and planning purposes only and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. No contract will be awarded as a result of this Sources Sought announcement. The United States Geological Survey, Office of Acquisition and Grants is soliciting information from qualified sources; the results of this announcement will be evaluated to determine if there are businesses capable of fulfilling this requirement. The USGS, Pacific Coastal and Marine Science Center (PCMSC) in Santa Cruz, CA supporting the Hazards Mission Area requests to purchase a new POSPac MMS software license. The primary use of this software is to support the seafloor mapping operations of PCMSC. This is critical software used to post-process PCMSC¿s research vessel navigation and attitude data collected during seafloor mapping surveys. These data are incorporated into raw bathymetry and acoustic backscatter data allowing for more accurate seafloor maps. These data and maps support USGS mission essential functions, providing information that supports decision makers and resource managers in the preservation of life, health and safety of the American people, and related information delivery systems for global monitoring and reporting. This is software to process POS-MV Inertial Navigation System (hardware) data that is also owned by USGS.
