NIOSH has a requirement for two customized stemi stereo microscopes with 6.3-50x magnification, along with an additionalfront optic that can increase the working distance from 92 mm to 127 mm and amagnification of 3.9-31.5x. Further, both microscopes must be set up on ball bearing boom standsto enable flexibility and mobility of the microscopes to different individuals- height and workingdistance needs. These microscope specifications will enable NIOSH to be able to successfullycollect tissue from fetal rodents or hang microvessels as small as 25 Ξm in internal diameter toassess vascular reactivity.
