Description
Renovation and repurposing of the existing buildings 301 and 530 located at Naval Base Point Loma, (NBPL) San Diego, California. The renovated buildings must provide administrative, training, and headquarters offices for Command, Carrier Strike Group Fifteen (CCSG-15).
The Renovation of NBPL Building 301 and Building 530 is a renovation and modernization project that includes alteration and reconfiguration of a Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQ, Building 301) and the former Harbor Inn & Conference Center (Building 530). Both existing facilities must be brought into full compliance with current planning and design criteria and guidance
Building 301 renovations consist of alteration and reconfiguration of a vacant bachelor enlisted quarters to meet modern administrative office, training, and controlled space standards; seismic retrofit to address deficiencies; and replacement of aged building systems and components. The project includes the demolition of interiors and limited removal and replacement of loadbearing walls. Implementation of building improvements to meet UFC 4-010-05 and Intelligence Community Directive (ICD) 705 standards for provision of Controlled Area spaces is required on the existing 5th and 6th levels.
Building 530 renovations include alteration and reconfiguration of underutilized consolidated club and training spaces to meet modern administrative office, training, and controlled area standards; seismic retrofit to address deficiencies; and replacement of aged building systems and components. The project includes the demolition of interiors and limited removal and replacement of walls. It was determined that the project does not require any heavy repair of the structural building system or exterior wall assembly.
