Description : The Hawaii State Department of Health (DOH) Project Linking Actions for Unmet Needs in Children-s Health (LAUNCH) seeks a qualified community-based, non-profit organization in Hawaii, to identify best practices from Community Health Workers and Health Coalitions that will support young child (birth through eight years of age) physical and mental wellness.The overall purpose of Project LAUNCH is to promote the wellness of young children, birth to eight years of age. Project LAUNCH defines wellness as a state of positive physical, emotional, social, and behavioral health. For this program, behavioral health includes mental health and positive development free from substance abuse and other negative behaviors. The focus of the project using Community Health Workers and Health Coalitions to promote young child physical and mental health so that children can reach their optimal development and wellness. Community Health Workers (CHWs) play a critical role in promoting the physical and mental health of young children by providing education, support, and resources to families. Coalitions that focus on health concerns provide an opportunity to build on their knowledge and expertise to make recommendations to identify barriers to healthcare access.
