- Hernando County Board of County Commissioners are soliciting Vendors/Contractors active in providing recovered recyclable materials processing for the County-s integrated solid waste program, in Hernando County, Florida. Request for Proposals (RFP) for a curbside residential solid waste and recycling collection hauler and the County anticipates a January 1, 2026 start date for the awarded franchise agreement contract for this service. Residential collection of recyclable materials and solid waste materials is through dual stream recycling once per week. Franchisee provides two (2) open top bins, approximately eighteen (18) gallons each to County residents and residents may utilize their own “like size” bins if they wish to recycle larger quantities. Tonnage for the last 3 years: FY 22 3888 tons, FY 23 3699 tons, FY 24 3694 tons.
