- Description: In response to recovery efforts following Hurricanes Maria and Irma, and earthquake events, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) allocated funds to the Government of Puerto Rico under the Community Development Block Grant Program for Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR Program or CDBG-DR) and the Development Block Grant Program Community for Mitigation (CDBG-MIT) for the purpose of addressing long-term disaster recovery. The Puerto Rico Department of Housing (Vivienda) was designated by the Government of Puerto Rico as administrator of this allocation. These funds will be used for activities that increase disaster resilience and reduce or eliminate the long-term risk of loss of life, injury, property damage and loss, and suffering and hardship, by lessening the impact of future disasters.
