- Summary : Project Description:The City of Chandler, Arizona, is a suburban community home for approximately 290,000 residents, but also has a strong employment base with over 130,000 jobs. With a demographic profile that includes a significant percentage of young professionals and families, Chandler is a community committed to cultivating a safe and accessible transportation network for all roadway users. The city's Transportation Master Plan, updated in 2019, highlights this commitment by emphasizing the development of a multimodal system that prioritizes roadway, pedestrian, and bike safety. Aligning with regional and national safety movements, Chandler has set goals to emphasize transportation safety and enhance vulnerable road users- safety as part of its Transportation Master Plan goals. These goals were put forth with the hope to reduce traffic-related fatalities and serious injuries within the city roads.As part of the city-s efforts to achieve these goals, Chandler has been awarded funding under the U.S. Department of Transportation-s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Grant Program to develop a Roadway Safety Action Plan (RSAP).
